In 2014, at the end of the mandate of the previous CNU 20th section council (2011-2015), Jean-Pierre Bocquet-Appel, who sat on it, expressed the wish that Council members discuss collegially the future of the combination of social anthropology-ethnology, biological anthropology and prehistory, as this association seemed to him less and less obvious, given the evolution of the construction of knowledge in these different fields. With Jean-Pierre and Charles Stepanoff of the Laboratory of Social Anthropology, we then set up a working group to take assessment of the evolution of these partnerships and to identify a number of avenues to renew the interdisciplinary dialogue. The present communication reproduces the content of these exchanges, which resulted in the publication of a paper in Homme,, the main journal of French social anthropology.
