ean-Pierre Bocquet-Appel was elected Director of Studies cumulating at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in 2008, holder of the Direction of Studies in Demographic Anthropology in the 3rd section of the School. He joined the Laboratory of Paleoanthropology (led by Henri Duday), which became Broca Laboratory again in 2011. Committed to scientific responsibilities (two terms as member of the Scientific Council of the EPHE), he was also active in the teaching of EPHE until his retirement in 2016. His professorship at École Pratique enabled him to transmit with enthusiasm to the students and auditors of the EPHE his vision of biological anthropology. From 2010 to 2015 he was the creator and head of the Teaching Unit "Men and Environments" of the Master Biology Health and Environment of the EPHE. With Charles Stepanoff, member of the 5th section of the School and Laboratory of Social Anthropology, he was the driving force behind the construction of the EPHE General Anthropology Seminar, set up at the Sorbonne and the Collège de Paris. France in collaboration with EHESS. These two lessons have thus allowed many students to enrich their knowledge on demographic anthropology and spatial demography and to discover the concepts of Neolithic or agricultural demographic transition, favourite to Jean-Pierre Bocquet-Appel.
